Delhi Police Files Charge Sheet Against RK Pachauri

Delhi police has filed a charge sheet against RK Pachauri, founder of the non-profit think tank TERI in a sexual harassment case filed by his former colleague.
The police have accused Mr Pachauri of outraging modesty of woman, stalking and criminal intimidation, the Press Trust of India reported.
In February last year, a 29-year-old research assistant working at TERI or The Energy Research Institute accused Mr Pachauri of sexual harassment. Subsequently the TERI Board announced that Dr Ajay Mathur would be the new Director General replacing Mr Pachauri. Mr Pachauri continues to be the TERI's executive vice chairman.

Umar, Anirban Sent to 14-days Judicial Custody

A  Delhi court on Tuesday extended sent JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, facing Sedition charges for allegedly raising "anti-India" slogans, to 14-day judicial custody.
The two Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students were presented before the magistrate today after the expiry of their police custody. Both the students had surrendered before police on last Tuesday midnight outside a gate of the university.
A case against Khalid and Bhattacharya was registered at Vasant Kunj police station, soon after JNU Student Union president Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested under the same charges on February 12 after the event held on the university campus against the execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
He allegedly shouted anti-India slogans at the event.

Solar Eclipse on March 9

A total eclipse of the Sun will occur on March 9. From India, it will be seen as partial solar eclipse at sunrise. The same will be visible from most places of India except from North West and western parts of the country.
In most places of India, the partial phase of the eclipse begins before sunrise i.e. partially eclipsed sunrise will take place.
However, start of partial phase of the eclipse will take place just after sunrise from extreme north east India. As one moves towards the east of the country, the duration of the partial eclipse increases reaching upto a duration of about one hour and more in extreme north east India and in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Considering the Earth as a whole, the partial phase of the eclipse will begin at 4.49 IST. The total phase will begin at 5.47 IST. The total phase will end at 9.08 IST. The partial phase will end at 10.05 IST.
