Kim Jong-un Orders Nuclear weapons Readied for Use

The North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un has ordered his country to be ready to use nuclear weapons “at any time” in the face of a growing threat from enemies, official media said on Friday.
Kim also said the North should turn its military posture to a “pre-emptive basis” because enemies were threatening the state’s survival, the regime’s KCNA news agency reported.
According to the agency, Kim made his comments while monitoring the test firing of a new large-calibre multiple rocket launcher on Thursday, just hours after the UN security council unanimously adopted a resolution penalising the North for its recent nuclear test and long-range rocket launch.
South Korea’s defence ministry said the North fired half a dozen rockets about 100-150km (60-90 miles) into the sea off its eastern coast on Thursday.
In a clear threat to neighbouring South Korea, Kim said the new rocket launcher should be “promptly deployed” along with other newly developed weaponry.
“At an extreme time when the Americans … are urging war and disaster on other countries and people, the only way to defend our sovereignty and right to live is to bolster our nuclear capability,” Kim said.
The US-drafted UN resolution adopted by the security council late on Wednesday laid out the toughest sanctions imposed on Pyongyang to date over its nuclear weapons programme and will, if implemented effectively, apply significant economic pressure to Kim’s regime.
The resolution breaks new ground, sanctioning specific sectors key to the North Korean economy – such as mineral exports – and seeking to undermine the North’s use of and access to international transport systems.
In the past has reacted to international pressure with alarming words often designed for an internal audience.
But experts will point to the fact that although Kim Jong-un’s possesses the ability to detonate a weapon in controlled tests, the prospect of delivering a nuclear warhead with a missile is highly doubtful.
North Korea has not issued an official reaction to the new UN sanctions. But citizens in its capital, Pyongyang, interviewed by the Associated Press said on Thursday they believe their country could fight off any sanctions.
“No kind of sanctions will ever work on us, because we’ve lived under US sanctions for more than half a century,” said Pyongyang resident Song Hyo-il. “And in the future we’re going to build a powerful and prosperous country here, relying on our own development.”
In Beijing, foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said China, North Korea’s closest ally, hoped the UN sanctions would be implemented “comprehensively and seriously”, while harm to ordinary North Korean citizens would be avoided.
At the United Nations, Russia’s ambassador, Vitaly Churkin, asked about the North’s firing of short-range projectiles, said: “It means that they’re not drawing the proper conclusions yet.”
Japan’s UN ambassador, Motohide Yoshikawa, said: “That’s their way of reacting to what we have decided.”
“They may do something more,” Yoshikawa said. “So we will see.”
Dr Leonid Petrov, an expert on North Korea from the Australian National University, said the statement was not an idle threat, adding “North Korea is prepared to go a long way in this”.
“They believe it’s the only way they can protect their regime,” Petrov told Guardian Australia. “The survival of the regime is the main concern for the North Korean leadership.”
Petrov said the statement was intended to send a message to the UN security council, including former friendly nations Russia and China.
“I think North Korea simply mirroring the US rhetoric that nuclear weapons may be used pre-emptively and that’s what North Korea believes they also have the right to do,” he said.

CBI Registers Fresh Case in 'Rail Neer' scam

CBI on Thursday registered a case of alleged possession of fake currency against a businessman and his two sons, an offshoot of the 'Rail Neer' scam in which the three are being probed by the central agency.
CBI registered the case after it emerged that of the Rs 27 crore cash recovered from Sharan Bihari Agrawal, his sons Abhishek Agrawal and Rahul Agarwal, who own R K Associates and Brandavan Food Product, Rs 33,500 were allegedly fake currency.
Sources said the trio will now have to reveal the origin of the money, which will further strengthen the agency's case against them. During searches in October 2015, CBI had recovered Rs 27 crore cash from Agrawals.
CBI had registered a case against two senior Railway officials M S Chaliam and Sandeep Silas besides seven private companies - R K Associates Pvt Ltd, Satyam Caterers Pvt Ltd, Ambuj Hotel and Real Estate, P K Associates Pvt Ltd, Sunshine Pvt Ltd, Brandavan Food Product and Food World - under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.
It is alleged that the accused officials had shown favour to these private firms which supplied cheap packaged drinking instead of 'Rail Neer' which is mandatory for catering onboard premium trains including Rajdhani and Shatabdi.
CBI had said the Railway Board had prescribed that IRCTC shall provide 'Rail Neer' at the rate of around Rs 10.50 per bottle to private caterers and they would be paid nearly Rs 15 per bottle for supplying the same to the passengers in premium trains.
However, in order to make undue gains, the private suppliers were allegedly supplying cheap packaged water, other than 'Rail Neer', available in the market for Rs 5.70-Rs 7 per bottle, thereby making undue profits and causing loss to the exchequer.
The agency has filed a charge sheet against these Railway officials, Sharan Bihari Agarwal, and the eight companies for
allegedly causing a loss of Rs 19.5 crore to railways by selling cheaper packaged water in place of 'Rail Neer'.

Mitt Romney Attacks Trump, Says Fraud & Phony

US Republican front runner Donald Trump on Thursday came under a brutal attack from party's former presidential nominee Mitt Romney who called him "phony and a fraud", alleging that "dishonesty" is the hallmark of the real estate tycoon.
"There's plenty of evidence that Trump is a con man, a fake. Trump has changed his positions not just over the years, but over the course of the campaign," he said.
We will only really know if he's a real deal or a phony if he releases his tax returns and the tape of his interview with the New York Times. I predict that there are more bombshells in his tax returns. I predict that he doesn't give much, if anything, to the disabled and to our veterans. I predict that he told the New York Times that his immigration talk is just that - talk," he said.
In a rare speech, Romney gave a clarion call to his party men not to let Trump become the presidential nominee as he is the "wrong person" to lead the party and the country.
"Here's what I know: Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud," Romney said.
Romney, who was defeated by President Barack Obama in his 2012 re-election, joins a growing chorus of anxious Republican leaders who appeared to have ganged up against Trump in a last ditch effort to prevent him from becoming the nominee for the November presidential poll.
Trump so far has won 10 of the 16 States where Republican primaries and caucus have been held in the last one month and has a substantial lead in terms of number of delegates as against the three other major Republican candidates - Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and John Kasich.
Claiming that there is a "bombshell" to hide in the Trump's tax returns, which he has not released it so far, Romney said Trump's nomination would only help Hillary Clinton become the next president of the United States. Romney alleged "dishonesty" is Trump's hallmark. "He claimed that he had spoken clearly and boldly against going into Iraq. Wrong. He spoke in favour of invading Iraq. He said he saw thousands of Muslims in New Jersey celebrating 9/11. Wrong. He saw no such thing. He imagined it," he said.
"He's not of the temperament of the kind of stable, thoughtful person we need as a leader. His imagination must not be married to real power. The president of the United States has long been the leader of the free world," he said. Think of Trump's personal qualities, Romney urged his party men.
"The bullying, the greed, the showing off, the misogyny, the absurd third grade theatrics. You know, we have long referred to him as 'The Donald'," he said.
"He's the only person in the entire country to whom we have added an article before his name, and it was not because he had attributes we admired," he said.
