Threat To Blow Up Kolkata Airport

Kolkata: Dumdum airport manager has received a threat mail on Saturday night. The mail has asked for extortion money or else the airport will be destroyed. The airport manager immediately informed CISF. On Sunday morning, a complained has been lodged with airport thana; the issue has been informed to the NSCBI thana also. The security of Netaji Subhas Bose International Airport has been beefed up. The administration is carrying out a combing operation searching all bags of passengers.

Bangladesh May Drop Islam As Official Religion

Dhaka: Islam could be dropped as Bangladesh's official religion following a number of attacks in the country against people of other faiths.

Christians, Hindus and Muslim minority Shiites have recently faced attacks that are believed to have been carried out by Islamic extremists.

The country's Supreme Court is currently hearing arguments in favour of removing Islam as the official religion of Bangladesh, the Daily Mail reported.

Islam has been the country's official religion since 1988, but the battle to overturn this - which is being supported by many minority religious leaders - will argue that the decision to designate Islam the official religion was illegal.

However it is unclear how much widespread the support the move would have in the country, where 90% of the population is Muslim, 8% are Hindu and 2% is made up of other minority religions.


In the past month, a Hindu priest was hacked to death at an attack at a temple in Bangladesh's Panchgarh district in which two Hindu followers were also injured, while in the past year several prominent religious minority bloggers have been murdered.
Islamist groups Jumatul Mujahedeen Bangladesh and Ansarullah Bangla Team are believed to have carried out at least seven attacks on foreign and minority people in Bangladesh in the past year, and although the government denies there is an ISIS presence in the country, it is believed members are increasingly being recruited from there.

চণ্ডীগড়: পঞ্চদশী কিশোরীর চ্যালেঞ্জের মুখে জেএনইউইয়ের ছাত্র ইউনিউনের নেতা কানাইয়া কুমার। ৩১বছর বয়সী কানাইয়াকে বাক স্বাধীনতা নিয়ে প্রকাশ্য বিতর্কে অংশ নেওয়ার আহ্বান জানাল ১৫ বছরের ঝান্বি বেহাল। একইসঙ্গে মানুষের রায়ে নির্বাচিত প্রধানমন্ত্রীর নামেও কুরুচিকর মন্তব্যের বিরোধীতা করল দিল্লি পাবলিক স্কুলের এই পড়ুয়া। এমনই একটি প্রতিবেদন প্রকাশ করেছে একটি সর্বভারতীয় ইংরাজি দৈনিক।

রাজনৈতিক কারণেই দিল্লির জহরলাল নেহরু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে সংবিধানের বাক স্বাধীনতার অধিকারের অপব্যবহার করা হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন ঝান্বি বেহাল। তাঁর কথায়, "সংবিধানে আমাদের নিজের মত প্রকাশের স্বাধীনতা আছে মানে এই নয় আমরা যা খুশী তাই বলব। সব কিছুর একটা সীমা থাকে। জেএনইউ ক্যাম্পাসে বাক স্বাধীনতার নামে যা হয়েছে তা কোনও ভারতবাসীই কখনও মেনে নেবেন না। ছাত্রছাত্রীরা দেশবিরোধী স্লোগান দিচ্ছে, আর সেনাবাহিনী পাক মদতপুষ্ট জঙ্গিদের সঙ্গে লড়াই করছে।" দেশবাসীর দ্বারা নির্বাচিত প্রধানমন্ত্রীর বিরুদ্ধে কুরুচিকর মন্তব্য করা ঠিক নয় বলে জানিয়েছেন ঝান্বি।

ভাই রণধীর সিং নগরের দিল্লি পাবলিক স্কুলে পড়ে ঝান্বি। লেখাপড়ার সঙ্গে একটি স্বেচ্ছাসেবী সংস্থার হয়েও কাজ করে সে। স্বচ্ছ ভারত অভিযানে বিশেষ ভূমিকা নেওয়ার জন্য চলতি বছরের প্রজাতন্ত্র দিবসে পুরস্কৃত হয়েছিল ঝান্বি বেহাল। জনহিতকর বিভিন্ন ইস্যু নিয়ে প্রশ্ন তোলার অভ্যাস রয়েছে ঝান্বির। সম্প্রতি সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় নীল ছবি এবং অ্যাডাল্ট ছবির প্রদর্শনের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ করেছে পঞ্জাব এবং হরিয়ানা হাই কোর্টে।
