Cops Received Threat Call To Blow Up Kejriwal

New Delhi: Security was stepped up in and around Delhi Secretariat and the Chief Minister’s residence after police received a call this evening in which a man threatened to “blow up” Arvind Kejriwal. The police conducted a thorough check at both the locations and later declared it a hoax call.

“The control room received the call at around 4.30 pm and the caller told the police to do whatever they can to save Kejriwal and that he would blow him up in an hour,” a senior police official said.

The alert was forwarded to Delhi Police’s Central district, under which the Secretariat comes, and North district, under which the chief minister’s residence comes. Security was heightened in both the places, the official said.

The call was made through Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service and the details were later transferred to Delhi Police’s Special Cell, which is trying to track down the unidentified caller, the official said.

Al Qaeda Training Camp In Jharkhand Found

New Delhi/Ranchi: The Delhi Police has disclosed that a training camp of al Qaeda terror group has been operating “somewhere in Jharkhand”.

As per a report in the Hindustan Times, the police made the revelation in an application filed before a court in Delhi last week.

The police told the court that they were on the lookout for one Abu Sufiyan, who hails from Jharkhand.

Abu Sufiyan, suspect police, had visited Pakistan to receive training at terror camps run by the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and al Qaeda in Indian Sub-Continent (AQIS).

The application was filed to seek grant of more time to file chargesheet against al Qaeda operative Mohammad Asif, who was nabbed on December 14 last year.

The court is reported to have granted the time extension.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police’s revelation has come as a headache for the state’s security apparatus as Jharkhand continues to deal with the Naxal menace in at least 16 out of its 24 districts.

Jharkhand Police has so far denied existence of any terror camp of al Qaeda on its soil.

There are no terror camps in Jharkhand jungles, police spokesperson SN Pradhan said.

HT quoted Inspector General of Police (operation) MS Bhatia as saying, “Modules of the Indian Mujahiddin existed in the state but they have been busted. They were responsible for the Patna and the Bodh Gaya blasts. The terrorists develop sleeper cells in the state whose members carry out violent acts in other states.”

Earlier this year, in a series of arrests, the Delhi Police had nabbed five AQIS members – identified as Mohammad Asif, Zafar Masood, Mohammad Abdul Rehman, Syed Anzar Shah and Abdul Sami – from different states.

The daily reported that Sami, who lives in Jamshedpur, had allegedly travelled to Pakistan along with Abu Sufiyan.

“Sufiyan’s arrest is crucial in finding out the missing links of the larger conspiracy,” the police application said.

Delhi Police had earlier said that the arrested AQIS operatives planned to attack Delhi and other cities on January 26.

Nandigram Day Being Celebrated Today

Medinipur: Nandigram Day is being celebrated pompously on Monday, 14^th March. Shuvendu Adhikari along with Land Eviction Protest Committee paid tribute to the Martyrs by lighting up the candle and putting garlands at ‘Shaheed Bedi’ on Monday. Family of the martyrs was also present.

Mamata Banerjee would lead a procession to remember the martyrs who fell to the bullets of police and cadres, under the instructions of the CPI(M).

In January 2007, farmers in Nandigram erupted in protest against a proposed special economic zone (SEZ).

On March 14, the then Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya sent 2,500 policemen to ‘recapture’ Nandigram, but unofficially, they were accompanied by CPI(M) cadres.

Officially, 14 farmers died in the firing, but over 100 were declared “missing”. A similar attempt in November by the cadres finally ‘recaptured’ Nandigram. Buddhadeb Bhattacharya showed no remorse as he said, “They (farmers and Trinamool activists) have been paid back in their own coin.”

In its final report, the People’s Tribunal on Nandigram had called the violence of March 14, 2007 a “pre-planned, state-sponsored massacre” carried out “to teach a lesson” to people opposing the SEZ project on their land.

The Tribunal report, handed over to Gopal Krishna Gandhi, Governor of West Bengal on August 8, also called for the re-arrest of the ten CPI(M) cadres taken into custody earlier by the CBI but let off on bail due to the deliberate laxity of the West Bengal State police in filing charges against them within the statutory period.

Charge Sheet Filed Against 35 FTII Students

Pune: Thirty five FTII students were today listed in a charge sheet for allegedly gheraoing and illegally confining the institute’s director Prashant Pathrabe last year, of whom 30 were later granted bail.

The Deccan-Gymkhana police, which is probing the case, filed the charge sheet against 35 students in a court and the next hearing will be held on April 2, the prosecution said.

“There are total 35 students against whom the charge sheet has been filed. Five students were arrested on the intervening night of August 18-19 and released on bail. 30 students, including 12 who were out on anticipatory bail, were given (regular) bail today,” defence counsel Shrikant Shivade said.

Shivade moved a bail plea for 30 students in the court of first class judicial magistrate S S Bangad, who granted bail to all the students on a personal bond of Rs 3,000 each.

The FTII students, who were on a strike for 139 days since June last year against the appointment of BJP member and TV actor Gajendra Chauhan as its chairman, had allegedly gheraoed and confined Pathrabe in his office on August 17.

They had challenged his decision to go ahead with the assessment of the incomplete diploma film projects of the 2008 batch students.

The incident had led to police swooping-in on the campus on the intervening night of August 18-19, and arresting five students.

The students were booked under various sections of IPC, including 143, 147, 149, 323, 353 and 506, dealing with offences, some of them non-bailable, related to unlawful assembly, criminal intimidation and rioting.

Seventeen students were last year identified and named in an FIR filed in connection with the case.

Last week, the police, after screening the video footage of the incident, had identified 18 more students and asked them to present themselves in the court today.

Miandad Lashes Out At Afridi For India Love

Islamabad: “Shocked and hurt” by Shahid Afridi’s comments that Pakistan’s cricketers were loved more by Indians than the fans here, former captain Javed Miandad has said that players making such statements should be “ashamed” of themselves.

“These cricketers should be ashamed of themselves for saying such a thing. Shame on you,” Miandad said on the ‘Aaj TV’ channel.
Afridi and senior player Shoaib Malik had praised India after landing there for the World Twenty20, insisting that they have never felt threatened in the country even though their departure was delayed due to security concerns.
“We have always enjoyed playing in India and have been loved by Indian crowds more than crowds back home in Pakistan,” Afridi had said.
Miandad said Pakistan had gone to India to play in the World T20 but it didn’t mean that the players should pander to the hosts.
“What have the Indians given us? Speak the truth even while in India. For the last five years what have they given us or done with Pakistan cricket. Having served Pakistan cricket for so many years I am shocked and hurt to hear such comments from our players,” Miandad said.
The veteran of 124 Tests said the Pakistan cricket authorities must look into this matter and there should be a proper media classes for the players when they go abroad.
“The job of this team is to go and play well in India not makes such unnecessary comments,” he said.
Pakistan’s former Test opener and chief coach Mohsin Khan also expressed his surprise over the comments from Afridi and Malik.
“They are senior players and should be careful while speaking to the media specially while touring India,” Khan said.

TMC Leaders Exposed by Narada News, Caught Accepting Bribes on Camera

Five years ago, India’s eastern state of West Bengal was witnessing a revolution of sorts. People disenchanted with the over three-decade rule of the Left parties saw Mamata Banerjee, as their savior. The activists of the anti-corruption movement saw her as a beacon of hope, for a nation plagued by corruption and nepotism. Mamata’s pitch for probity in public life found resonance with the common man’s aspiration for a corruption free government.
Her unrelenting campaign paid off. And she and her Trinamool Congress or TMC rode to power with a historic mandate. But the euphoria of the new government soon began to fade.
Mamata government was beleaguered by the Sarada chit fund scam in which prominent leaders of her TMC were involved. This compelled us to visit the corridors of power in Bengal.
Our investigations, spread over two years, laid bare the fact that, far from being transparent, both Mamata’s government as well as her party, the TMC, is run by perhaps the most corrupt elements in the country. What we recorded on camera is shocking…
Here almost all leaders of TMC were found willing to flout any rule of the state for a bundle of cash.
We started our investigation before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Despite the alleged involvement in the Sarada chit fund scam, TMC was projected to be a clear winner in most of the Lok Sabha. This was despite allegations that the Mamata government was protecting some of the accused in the Sarada scam.
The way in which chief minister Mamata Banerjee came out in defence of a senior police officer Syed M H Mirza was very telling.
She took on the independent Election Commission against Mirza’s transfer from Burdwan district. Our investigations took off from there.
We formed a fictitious company -Impex Consultancy- and approached several ministers and Trinamool leaders to seek favours for the company. This was an attempt to unravel what is happening behind closed doors.
We also met Mirza. The senior police official was very forthcoming and ‘business friendly’. He acknowledged that he is a key person who collects funds for the Trinamool Congress. He even claimed that he is the most trusted lieutenant of former railway minister Mukul Roy. Mukul was the chief lieutenant of Mamata Banerjee.
Mirza’s claims led us to the house of Mukul Roy. He was not willing to take money from us directly. He told us to go to his office.

Mirza : I have already arranged 60 for him. Besides this 60.When we met in the morning, he just woke up. He woke up with my call only.

Mirza : Thats why he was saying now that election is there now only that enforcement raid. And rather than expenditure is there, it matters. This expenditure observer , if they got a clue or something this party will be wiped out. This party will go for a sixer

This recording was done when Mukul was the second in command of the party. His office was full of people. We could not record there, due to the frisking, before entering his office.

Mamata Banerjee many a times used to flaunt her association with Subrarta Mukherjee. Now Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Mamata considers Subrata as her mentor.
But we saw the true nature of the mentor. He was very eager to help us in any way, of course, after pocketing all the money offered to him.

He had no qualms in offering any help after receiving the money we offered.

We have about 52 hours of footage of this operation. What we understood after analyzing it again and again is that all levels of the leadership of the Trinamool Congress were more than willing to side step the norms, circumvent laws to extend illegal help to those who offer money.

Children Fall Sick After Consuming Mid Day Meal

Kolkata: Student falls sick after consuming mid day meal on Monday at Garden Reach area in Kolkata. The incident happened at one Anganwadi school in local Bostampara area. At First few students fell sick, then gradually all the students started falling sick. Furious locals showed unrest in front of the school.

Taxi Strike For Two Days in Kolkata

Kolkata: Passengers to suffer trouble as Taxi’s go for two day strike in Kolkata and Howrah demanding relief from police torture and several other issues.  AITUC controlled Kolkata taxi operators union and West Bengal taxi operators co- ordination committee has called for taxi strike on Monday and Tuesday.

The Demand made by Taxi union to call for strike is to stop police torture on them and several other issues. Taxi drivers will also march a protest rally from College Square to Dharmatala’s Y Channel. But taxi owners won’t participate in this rally.

General Secretary of the Operators Union, Noul Kishore Srivastav has said, we have appealed SITU and several others to support our strike. They have supported us. Luxury Taxi will also support our strike.

Situ leader Anadi Sahoo has said, we are supporting the protest. But right now there are polls and Exams hence I had told them to postpone the Strike. But Bengal Taxi association has said that there is no question of strike, the taxis will run as usual. But we will see to that there is no destruction.

13 Killed In Brazil Mudslide

Sau Paulo: Brazilian officials say mudslides and flooding caused by heavy downpours have killed at least 15 people including a 4-year-old boy in low-income neighbourhoods on Sao Paulo’s outskirts.

Capt. Marcos Palumbo of the Sao Paulo Fire Department told reporters that mudslides destroyed several houses, killing nine people in the city of Francisco Morato and four in Maripora where another eight people are reported missing.

Two people drowned when they were swept away in floodwaters, one in Guarulhos and the other in Cajamar.

The heavy rains that began on Thursday night shut down Sao Paulo’s International airport for six hours.

Images aired by television stations showed cars covered by water in Francisco Morato and Maripora as well as in parts of Sao Paulo.

The rains also halted commuter train service for several hours.

Army Undertakes Camel Safari

New Delhi: The Indian Army flagged off a Camel Safari Expedition in the Thar Desert in the general area of Bikaner on 11 March 2016. The expedition team comprises of officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and twenty soldiers and plans to cover a total distance of 200 kms over a period of 10 days from 11 to 20 March 16.

The expedition would traverse the border towns of Ranjitpura, Manganwala, Ballar, Dantor, Siyasar, Khajewala, Kundal, Khaliqwali, Gharsana & Anupgarh. A Medical Camp will also be organised by the team en route where free medical check-ups will be conducted by a team of Army Doctors.

The aim of the expedition is to promote a sense of adventure by Army personnel and show case Army as a way of life to locals. The expedition will also motivate local youth to join the Army, besides promoting goodwill amongst the locals.
