Former transport minister and Trinamool leader
Madan Mitra will be contesting the West Bengal Assembly polls from
Kamarhati constituency.
The minister is currently in jail over of his
alleged involvement in the multi-crore Saradha scam. Kamarhati is
believed to be the strong-hold of Madan Mitra.
As per reports, the TMC is going to face a tough
competition as the Congress and Left Front have come together to thwart
the ruling party’s poll march.
The Chief Election commissioner Nasim Zaidi today declared the poll dates of West Bengal along with four other states.
The elections will be held in six phases in the
state starting from April 4. Voting will be concluded on May 5. The vote
counting will be held on May 19, said the CEC.
