Laser Walls Installed In Indo-Pak Border

The Border Security Force (BSF) has installed laser walls as a measure to check the infiltration of the terrorists along Indo-Pakistan border.
This was told by Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju in written reply to a question by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majeed Memon and senior lawyer S. Thangavelu in the Rajya Sabha today.
The laser technology developed by BSF has been designed to cover all the shortcomings experienced in the use of laser wall at various places in the past.
The present technology has been found working satisfactorily to cover the unfenced riverine stretches.
To check the infiltration across borders has always been a top priority for the government.
The Government of India in tandem with the state governments, have adopted a multi-pronged approach to contain cross border infiltration, which inter-alia, includes strengthening of border management and multi-tiered deployment along the International Border, monitoring of infiltration routes, construction of border fencing including plugging the gaps through technological solutions, weapons and equipments for Security Forces, improved intelligence and operational coordination.
The places where the laser walls is to be installed along Indo-Pakistan border, depends upon the threat perceptions and other related factors which are reviewed frequently.

Some Suspects Spots Near Border, Alert Sounded

An alert has been sounded in villages located near the Indo-Pak border in Pathankot district and patrolling intensified after BSF alerted police on spotting three to five suspects in Pakistan side near the border.
"An alert has been sounded in and around villages located near Indo-Pak border and night patrolling by security personnel has been stepped up in the wake of information with regard to suspect shared by BSF personnel," a Pathankot district police official said.

"Three to five suspects were spotted by our surveillance equipments in Pakistan side near Zero Line and thereafter, Pathankot police authorities have been informed in this regard," a BSF official said today.
BSF has Dhinda Forward Post in Bamial area near Zero Line at Indo-Pak border.
BSF official said that information has been shared with the district police to remain alert.
After receiving information, the district police have stepped up patrolling and vigil near the Indo-Pak border to prevent entry of any anti-social element into Indian territory.
Police nakas (check posts) have been set up at various places while area near Narot Jaimal Singh has been completely sealed.
Heavily armed terrorists had attacked Pathankot Airforce base in January this year and they were suspected to have infiltrated into India from a spot near Bamial located near Indo-Pak border in Pathankot.
