WB Polls: Left Front Projects Suryakant Mishra

Kolkata: The Left Front has sounded the poll beagle for the Assembly poll 2016 in the state and projected Suryakant Mishra as the Chief Minister candidate from the party, claims party sources.

As per reports, the Left Front has not placed candidates in some seats and allotted the seats for their informal partner Congress. The LF and Congress have joined hands informally to battle the TMC in the polls.

Despite some reports of contention over seat sharing, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has made it clear that differences over mere 2 to 3 seats will not prove to be a hurdle for the coalition.

The LF will announce the full list of candidates tomorrow, said leader Gautam Dev during an event at Dum Dum today.

This year's Assembly elections are dubbed by many as a tough test for the ruling TMC as LF and Congress have joined forces against a common foe.

The Election Commission had declared that the elections in West Bengal will be held in six phases starting from April 4 and the vote counting will be held on May 19.

In order to conduct fair and peaceful polls, 500 companies of Central forces have been deployed in the state.
