Kolkata: Passengers to
suffer trouble as Taxi’s go for two day strike in Kolkata and Howrah
demanding relief from police torture and several other issues. AITUC
controlled Kolkata taxi operators union and West Bengal taxi operators
co- ordination committee has called for taxi strike on Monday and
Tuesday.
The Demand made by Taxi union to call
for strike is to stop police torture on them and several other issues.
Taxi drivers will also march a protest rally from College Square to
Dharmatala’s Y Channel. But taxi owners won’t participate in this rally.
General Secretary of the Operators
Union, Noul Kishore Srivastav has said, we have appealed SITU and
several others to support our strike. They have supported us. Luxury
Taxi will also support our strike.
Situ leader Anadi Sahoo has said, we are
supporting the protest. But right now there are polls and Exams hence I
had told them to postpone the Strike. But Bengal Taxi association has
said that there is no question of strike, the taxis will run as usual.
But we will see to that there is no destruction.
