Leakage Reported At Gujarat Nuclear Plant

Surat: A unit of the Kakrapar Atomic Power Station in Gujarat had to be shut down after a leakage was reported today morning. The leakage was reported in the primary heat transport system of the power plant. No nuclear radiation has been reported, officials said.

"Consequent to a small leak in Primary Heat Transport (PHT) System, the reactor was shut down as intended as per design provisions. All safety systems are working as intended. The 

Radioactivity/radiation levels in the plant premises and outside are normal," a statement issued by the plant administration said.

Emergency services of the nuclear plant and Vyara district administration have been alerted.

The power plant consists of two 220 MW reactors. The first reactor was commissioned in September 1992 and it started commercial production of electricity in May 1993.

The second unit was commissioned in January 1995 and it began producing electricity commercially in September 1995.

Red Road Case: Two Accused Granted Bail

Kolkata: The Bankshal court on Friday granted bail to Sanu and Johny, accused in the Red Road killing of IAF Corporal Abhimanyu Gaud on January 13 during Republic Day parade rehearsal.

The arrested trio, Sambia and friends Sonu alias Shahnawaz Khan and Johnny, have been booked under IPC sections 120(B) (criminal conspiracy), 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence), 212 (harbouring offender) and 427 (mischief causing damage).

Mohammed Sohrab, a former RJD MLA and stated to be a Trinamool Congress leader now has  been absconding since the mishap in which an IAF officer was killed.

Sambia Sohrab, the main accused in Red Road hit and run case and son of state Trinamool Congress member Mohammed Sohrab had  confessed that he was behind the wheels of the car which mowed down an IAF officer during a Republic Day parade rehearsal here.

Cong Sold Itself To CPM, Says Mamata

Kolkata: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday launched a scathing attack on Congress-CPM alliance.

CM while announcing her party’s election manifesto in Kolkata said, “We walked out of Congress in 1998 because they were handing over the party to CPI(M). Today we have been proven right.”

Dedicating the election manifesto to the common men, she said, “Our manifesto 2016 is dedicated to Maa, Mati, Manush of Bengal. We seek their blessing.”

“We have performed over and above what we promised in 2011.”, She added.

Praising the work done by her government Mamata said, “Trinamool means ‘Egiye Bangla’ In industry, education, culture. Trinamool means fulfilling promises In matter of 4 years.”  

Harping the secular tune again, the CM said, “Trinamool means good days are here, End to misgovernance. Trinamool means Ram & Rahim, Sikh-Christian together.”
A total of 6.5 crore voters will decide the fate of hundreds of candidates contesting in the Assembly polls starting from April 4 which will end on May 5. The vote counting will be on May 19.
