EC Showcaused CM Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata: The Election Commission on Thursday showcaused West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee for violating model code of conduct during the polls, said CEC Nasim Zaidi.

The commission showcaused Mrs. Banerjee after she addressed a rally in Asansol earlier the day. The CM has launched a scathing attack on he opposition parties in her speech at the rally.

Violating the code pf conduct Mamata has declared that Asansol will soon be declared as a district. 

A full bench of the Election Commission under Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi is currently in the state to take a stock of repeated accusation of poll violence and rigging made by opposition parties like Congress, BJP and CPI-M against the ruling Trinamool government. 

Meanwhile, several intellectual and respected figures including poet Sankha Ghosh and former judge of Supre Court Ashok Ganguly have met Mr. Zaidi asking him to initiate proper environment for a healthy election in the state.

On the other hand, Mamata reacting strongly over the EC's move said, "I have said nothing wrong and will say so again."

"I won't spare an inch of ground, let the EC do whatever it can." shed added further.
