Kolkata: Google has now extended its free wi-fi services to 9 railway stations which is a part of its tie-up with Railtail, the internet provider arm of Indian railways.
Last year this free internet service was launched at the
Mumbai Railway Station and it has been a huge success. This high-speed wireless
service now extends to stations in Pune, Bhubaneshwar, Bhopal, Rachi, Raipur,
Vijaywada, Kacheguda(Hyderabad),Ernakulum Jn and Vishakapatnam which will
provide its service to 1.5 million passengers.
“As internet adoption grows in India, easy and affordable
access to high-speed network is the real need of the hour”, said Gulzar Azad,
head of Access Project, Google India.
Though it has not
been officially launched yet, but free internet services has been
started on Friday itself. Smartphone
users have already started utilizing this new free wi-fi service.
