Kolkata: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday blamed the erstwhile CPI-M government for the Vivekananda flyover collapse on March 31, which left 27 people dead and scores injured.
Ms.
Banerjee during a poll rally at Burabazar area of the city said that the
overpass was the brainchild of CPI-M government and the builder IVRCL was the
Left government’s choice.
However,
Mamata Banerjee kept mum over the allegations that the section of the flyover
which collapsed was being constructed by Trinamool leader Smitha Bakshi’s
nephew Rajat Bakshi under a sub-contract from IVRCL.
Meanwhile,
the CM vented anger on the Election Commission and called that the commission’s
notice to her was unjustified. The EC had earlier showcaused Mamata Banerjee
for violating model code of conduct during the polls as the CM promised to make
Asansol a district during a rally there.
